I am busy watching movies on Denis Reggie’s website, and he says everything that I feel about wedding photojournalism so much better than I could ever do. He is considered as one of the “fathers” of wedding photojournalism. His work is pretty cool too btw.
If you are a bride and you have heard of “wedding photojournalism“ before but you are not quite sure what it means, then head over to Denis’ website, click on “In His Own Words” and then select one of the 10 videos available. I highly recommend “Telling stories with a camera” and “What is your style of photography”.
The site takes a while to load, but it’s totally worth it.

When an old best friend from school days contacts you after 10 years, and then suggests a day bass fishing…who would say no? Our “marketing” strategy didn’t quite impress the bass though…
Cindy went along and I was most delighted to see that she is very much developing a style of her own… I absolutely LOVE the first photo, I would never have taken it like this!
The last two photo’s are mine, it’s just really beautiful there.
Oh, and I’m the animal… grrr

I think I’m about two weeks behind with my blog, but catching up!! A while back we had the most beautiful red sunset that I have ever seen, I was totally dumbstruck. The only camera I had at my disposal at the time was Johan’s from Creation Photography. I’m not complaining since it was a Canon 1D’s 16 mega-pixel monster fitted with a 135mm f/2.0 lens, one of the most spectacular lenses I’ve seen in a long time. If you’re into studio portraits, this is the lens to get!
It’s not the ideal lens for landscapes though, too long, but I managed to catch the gist of the moment.

I was late, and after running around the mall rather frantically, then trying to phone him after looking up his number on his website on the coffee shop’s computer, I finally found him! I was supposed to meet Dror at the Bellair Mall in Northriding, where in turn we would meet Liezl and Francois for an information meeting and some engagement photos. They came all the way from Welkom to do shopping for their home, and to meet with Dror. Their laid back, very pleasant nature had me seriously considering moving to the Free State once and for all.
It was a real pleasure meeting you guys.

Update: Things worked out a bit differently and I was lucky enough to shoot their wedding in the end. Check out the wedding images here: http://www.benviljoenphotography.co.za/blog/2009/05/francois-and-liezl-in-hoopstad/

Adam and Jenni had their wedding right at their home, which I thought was pretty cool. Not only did this provide for a very intimate experience, but it gave me the opportunity to capture a bit of the personality of their home. One of the elements of home personality of course is the pets…
I think I might have more portraits of their cats than of them!! …almost.

I decided to start my blog afresh. My blog was moved to a new host and it seems like some schlep to get all the previous posts back up. So I told my webmaster to let go of the old and let me start anew.
On the one hand I’m kinda sad and want to make a phone call saying that I changed my mind, but on the other hand I’m rather exited about the newness.
I will post my price list again with the info page which I will update again soon.
My website also still has some snags, but please dont hesitate to visit, most of it is working!! All working!
For those who don’t know yet, I’m getting married in September. I am extremely excited about it and the Lord has been so good to us so far in getting our arrangements in order. I am still looking for a photographer though, so if you think you are up for it, e-mail me please!
Here is a fun portrait of my wife to be…Love You Babes, forever and ever!!

I had my blog updated and moved to another host and all my previous posts simply disappeared! My web guy (not sure what the title is) assured me that all is backed up and will be up and running again as per normal but did I panic… Nah I thought this will be a good opportunity to start afresh with a new theme etc. anyway.
After the good news I decided that the new theme might be good in any case.
We are still working on getting everything back on track; hopefully I will be able to post images again soon!!
Update: lost all my previous posts…not an overly happy man right now.
