my late birthday

On Thursday I finally managed to track down my gift from my wife for my birthday this year, and as it goes with good things, it came together with an aggressive tummy bug, which is never a good thing if you need to shoot a wedding the next day.

Anyway, with much prayer and pills I managed through the wedding and have been in a state of resting ever since, haven’t even looked at the pics from the wedding yet.

The book is simply incredible. Sebastiao Salgado is right up there as one of my favourite photographers. Timeless, deep, emotional and melancholy, and both expertly captured and printed. If you want it, get the book from Amazon if you are not in a hurry, MUCH MUCH cheaper than buying it locally.

Update: the tummy bug didn’t actually come with the book, just in case you got nervous.

Ben (the other) and Elzette wanted a portrait to use on their wedding day coming up towards the end of this week, so we organised a semi e-session, semi early at the Rand Airport for this morning.

They found me via my Afrikaans site, ranking high on my NYR list for next year to keep somewhat updated. Please hold me to it.

Some of my favourite people are from Kenya, as are some of my clients. I thought they might enjoy this work by Steve Bloom, it’s pretty darn cool, wish I could see it in print.
