I’ve been thinking of giving a short wedding related tip once a week to help you while planning your wedding day. The tips will involve mostly little, often overlooked details that add up to make a notable difference.
We’ve been shooting weddings for close to a decade now and although I don’t make lists or keep score I’m sure I can come up with a couple of suggestions that may prove helpful to you in planning your wedding day.
First one up is for the groom.
Spend time and money to buy a suit (and shirt) and have it tailored.
The bride stepped straight out of the latest Vogue magazine, but the groom is apparently on his way to his first Valentines ball and has his dad’s suit on for the evening.
We, surprisingly often, have grooms arrive on the wedding day with rented suits that are baggy and look used. Not very dapper at all and it really does spoil the overall picture. Some of these men are obviously very well off financially and have spent a considerable amount on the rest of the wedding, and yet they couldn’t be bothered to dress the occasion.
Trust us when we say that the groom and the way he looks plays an enormous role, not only in making the photographs look even better (which it does tremendously), but in lifting the actual status and vibe of the whole wedding.
It’s a given (though not always) that the bride is going to try and look her absolute best. If the groom looks the part, it just takes everything up a notch.
