10 May Marna & Anthon – Euphoria Golf Estate, Naboomspruit
It’s been a while, but we are finally back for two consecutive weddings at one of our favourite venues, in the bushveld of course, at Euphoria Golf Estate in Naboomspruit (Mookgopong).
To be honest we were a little stressed about the light for the couple session, as we kinda forgot that there is a hill to the west that dominates the scene at Euphoria, especially around the clubhouse, and our stress levels didn’t subside at all as the sun dipped behind this hill just as the ceremony began (yip, at 16:00 already). Our fears were completely unfounded though as we ended up having the most beautiful sunset after we chased the light around a bit in golf carts and a classic Mercedes-Benz 190SL. We had the sun for about two minutes, after which we had the most gorgeous, buttery, diffused, directional, subtly warm light imaginable, with the most stunning cloud formations choreographed towards the east. I just had to stop once in a while to take a moment and appreciate the sheer beauty and serenity of the moment.
Anthon and Marna were a delight to work with and really rocked the session. The end result, some of my very favourite images to date, something Euphoria tends to brings out in us every time we are there.
The evening slowly drew to an end (at least for us) with a very fitting African thunderstorm display, some fun speeches, and seriously the best wedding cake we have ever had. I presume it was a vanilla sponge cake (very fresh and tasty in itself), but instead of the usual plain cream filling, they filled it with a creamy lemon meringue substance that was absolutely indescribably divine. I really should have stuffed some into my camera bag. Marietjie, if you are reading this, please persuade every couple coming through your doors to have that very same cake! (Marietjie is the venue wedding co-ordinator at Euphoria, and she gets a hearty applause from our side for a wedding very well executed).
There are some 30 images on our Facebook page, but here some of my personal favourites, in a bigger and better quality format.
